This winter semester, give your child the opportunity to build confidence, sharpen focus, and learn the essentials of chess, all in a fun and supportive in-person environment. Our 10-week program is designed for kids aged 6–14, with multiple class levels to match every skill level. Whether they’re just starting out or ready for a challenge, there’s a seat waiting this season!

Location: Beddington Theatre Arts Centre NW Price: $250 CAD (+ GST) Beginner Course: Recommended for chess players who have been introduced to chess and know how the chess pieces move but they have very little to no knowledge of the Chess rules & strategies.

Pawn
Every Tuesday,
6.15pm - 7.15pm
(Jan 6 - Mar 10)

Location: Beddington Theatre Arts Centre NW Price: $250 CAD (+ GST) Pawn Course: Recommended for chess players who have a good grasp of how the chess pieces move. They also have basic knowledge of the Chess rules, strategies, and tactics.

Knight
Every Wednesday,
5.10pm - 6.10pm
(Jan 7 - Mar 11)

Location: Beddington Theatre Arts Centre NW Price: $250 CAD (+ GST) Knight Course: Recommended for chess players with a complete grasp of how the chess pieces move along with their special moves. They also have good knowledge of the basic endgame checkmates and opening fundamentals. They have basic knowledge about chess tactics (pins, forks, skewers, etc.) and basic middlegame strategies.

Location: Beddington Theatre Arts Centre NW Price: $250 CAD (+ GST) Bishop Course: This class is the next level above the ‘Knight’ class. Recommended for chess players with solid opening fundamentals and complete knowledge of the basic endgame checkmates. They also have good knowledge of the basic middle game strategies and tactics (forks, pins, skewers, etc.).

Rook
Every Tuesday,
7.20pm - 8.20pm
(Jan 6 - Mar 10)

Location: Beddington Theatre Arts Centre NW Price: $250 CAD (+ GST) Rook Course: Recommended for chess players with solid opening fundamentals and complete knowledge of the basic endgame checkmates but limited general endgame knowledge. The player has a good grasp of general middlegame fundamentals and has some knowledge of different middlegame strategies. The player is also well familiar with chess tactics (finding pins, forks, skewers, etc., in games).

The player has a solid grasp of general middlegame fundamentals and has good knowledge of different middlegame strategies. The player is also well familiar with chess tactics (finding pins, forks, skewers, etc., in games).
